Researcher Dr. Laurie Bassi found that the education and training is the most significant predictor of an organization's success, moreso even than price-to-earning ratios, price-to-book statistics, and measures of risk and volatility. Bassi invests in training - literally. She launched a firm that buys stocks in companies that invest heavily in employee training. In its first two years, it returned 24 percent a year, beating the S&P by four points.
